Happy New Year everyone!!
Bolstered by the excitement and optimism found in the start of a new year, I decided to do embark on a major clean out and rearrangment of my studio and storage space. The furniture moving is complete, but I still have stacks of old work piled in the corners awaiting their fate.
A fate, which I have been totally unable to decide thus far.
Do I keep them and try to find a space? We are pretty strapped for storage as it is, it's hard to justify taking up all that room with old/failed paintings. Most of these are done on 1 inch wood blocks too, so they quickly take over our precious shelving space.
Do I throw them out? Each piece taught me something, even if it was "Don't ever do that again." I have a hard time throwing out old work, especially if I spent any significant time working on it... feels like I am abandoning little bedraggled friends.
What do you all do with your past work?
